Jane Anne Ryan

I am an artist working in Harrow. I originally trained in textile design,  and hold a BA honours degree from Middlesex University. Having also gained a teaching certificate I combined freelance design work with teaching for many years. I now specialize in silk painting and batik and work full time in my studio. I have produced a collection of hand painted silk scarves, the theme of which is mainly based on natural forms and landscapes. These pieces can be seen as either 'wearable art' as they certainly function as accessories or as paintings in their own right. I also paint in watercolour and enjoy portraiture and life drawing. Printed images interest me and I have recently been experimenting with Lino printing. The work I do is always of a personal nature and whereas I like to use a variety of different media, my aim is to present a unified body of work.
